Christmas is only 2 days away and it will be different this year! First year with 2 wonderful Grandsons! Jack and Jake will make it so fun this year! Shopping is done.....I think.....Lord keep Rose out of the stores! Anyway the bills are huge but there is cash to pay for it all with some left over for Lakeland! Can't wait for Spring Training.......

Oh yeah...the Lions are 0-15.....don't blow it now! Lose, Lose, Lose

Wow, has it been that long?

Has it been that long since I posted last? Lots has happened since. Our 2nd grandson was born on the 24th of November, the Buckeyes killed the team up north, and the Tigers have a new catcher and Shortstop as well as a good starting pitcher. Only downside, Matt Joyce is with the Tampa Bay Rays, and cold, I mean cold weather has come to Northwest Ohio.

So many questions still remain when it comes to the Tigers? Can they turn it around? I think yes, but the pitching must come through. They must find a closer and Rodney and Zumaya need to recover from the last couple of injury plaqued seasons.

Christmas is getting closer and holy smoke we have done about no shopping, even Rose doesn't want to shop.....ha

63 days till pitchers and catchers!
77 days till we get to Lakeland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Winter is here

Well winter is here. Freezing temps, short days, and long cold nights with no baseball. The hot stve league is not real hot right now. It seems the Tigers are going to be doing nothing much with our team. They need a SS, Closer, Catcher...

OSU vs Michigan is Saturday and the Bucks can't lose can they? It would seem that way, but this match up year after year will surprise you. It can't happen can it? 3-8 Michigan vs 8-2 OSU? Lets hope not.

Lions? TIgers?

Wow, what a weekend. Lions get killed again. Can they go 0-16? I think it is possible. They are worses than terrible. Fans, do not go to the games! I don't want to see them on TV! Tigers and Lions are both KITTY CATS!.

Well, at least the Buckeyes won! Good game and pulled it out in the end. The Bucks defense is not so hot...could get better but the D-line must play better. How about Michigan? They were terrible Saturday.

Baseball Playoffs...what happened to the Cubs! AAAAHHHHH The Curse of the Billy Goat! Brewers, see you later Bernie Brewer...See ya CC>>>>headed to the Yanks. Dodgers are good with Manny!

The Pain is Gone

The end of the baseball season is here for the Tigers. It ended as it began, with a horrible loss. The Tigers are horrible...and going down....who is too blame?? Everyone in my mind. Wow, what a letdown. From the highs of Spring Training to going home and out of it by Sept. 1. Where do you start to fix it?? Have no ideas there. SS is a problem and Renteria's option will not be picked up....Inge back to 3rd?? What is up with all of this?? Guillen to LF??

Geez, I am ready to go on vacation! Time to fly, time to run......time to find something new to do with my time...no baseball. See you in March Lakeland FL, Sonny's Real Pit BBQ!

I am guessing that hotel rooms will be a lot cheaper!!!!

How Far Have They Fallen

Rose and I went to the game last night at the COMA.....the Tigers were in a coma. It was terrible! They did not care, they walked too many, and could not hit Meche. The Tigers now stand only 1 game out of last place. A team picked to win the World Series, could finish in last place! 2 more against the Royals and 4 against Tampa Bay. If you want to go to any games $.49 will get you tickets to any of the reamining games on Stub Hub! Holy Crap! Well we have tickets for one more game and I can't seem to give them away! Terrible, simply, terrible!

Well, it is time to farm and that sounds like more fun than watching the Tigers right now, even if I can't bare the thought of not seeing the games till spring! Man, I love baseball! Maybe some fall High SChool games will be better to watch! MY nephews are playing, I guess I will check them out this weekend!

Better luck next year....

Limping to the End

Limping to end of the season for the Tigers. One more game to go see...tonight versus the last place Royals. The Tigers are only 2 games ahead and a sweep by the Royals would and could give them a last place finish....the biggest disaster of a season ever in my mind. in the 119 loss season of 2003, you knew they would not be any good anyway.....this year, wow what a mess, they were terrible, they could not beat anyone and the pitching was horrible....7 more games...at home, before a few thousand fans per game...I think I will go just to boo them! I can't even give the tickets away at this point...

Well, at least it was a nice weekend for riding the motorcycle. Beautiful last weekend of summer just passed and a beautiful start to fall. get the farming done and go on vacation, maybe...depends on the forcast....

there is always next year for the Detroit Tigers.....oh yeah the Lions start the season 0-3....yee haa

Holy Crap Marie

Can you believe it. THe TIgers blow a lead again in the 9th. Feranando to the rescue....my spelling is bad....because I am mad!!!!!

4-2 lead in the 9th and Fernanado does it again. Listen to WMTR in the morning and I am sure Max will play Fernanado by Abba! HE must not close in 2009!

I still have tickets to 2 games next week! Any takers? Free TIckets, free tickets!!!!

waiting on Lakeland 2009! What week in March will we go??????

Another game, Another blown lead

The dates change, but the results do not. Kyle Farnsworth again gives up a lead late in the game. Just release the guy now and tell him to go home. What a joke. And Pudge can't get a hit for the Yankees.....rotten trade for both teams. I think both team wish they would have kept the player they traded. The Tigers were kind of in contention when the trade went through and so were the Yankees....but alas they are both headed home in a couple of weeks.

Last night Dontrelle pitched and did fairly well and it will be interesting to see what happens in his next start. He walked too many, but came through when he had too and gave up the big 3 run HR, but little else. The bats scored enough runs again, but another lead blown in the 8th inning. The other night I have heard how many games they have blown after the 7th inning and if they would have won 1/2 of them, they would be in first place or really close to the lead and would be in contention, not 13 games back and 9 games under .500.

Do I want to watch the game tonight?? Don't know and not sure I care, but it is still baseball and I love baseball!!!!!

Oh What a Weekend!

What a weekend. Tigers are rained out Fri and Sat. Lose a DH on Sunday. Big comeback Sunday night from a 7-0 White Sox lead only to have The Launching Pad(Farnsworth) give up a Grand Salami in the bottom of the 8th. Story of the entire season. Geez, can't anyone get someone out!

Then the Buckeye meltdown against USC and the Lions, what can I say about the Lions except, from the words of Denny Green...The Lion are who we thought they were....terrible.

at least we got some much needed rain over the weekend and we made it to the final night at the Ridgeway Dairy Freeze! Gotta have some!

Tonight starts a 3 game series in Texas. Willis on the mound....could be a long night as ususal...

Almost September

The pennant race is nearing an end and the Tigers have not been in "it" for weeks. They seem to be going through the motions these days. Only a few of the "millionaire" players seem to care much. Disappointing season to say the least. Who would have thought this team would be out of it before Sept 1?

The Buckeyes play this Sat agaist Youngstown St...what a challenge. How much will Pryor Play? No one is saying. How many yeads for Chris Wells in game 1.

Here is to a Rays vs Cubs World Series....and a National Championship for the Buckeyes!

It is Over

Well you can stick a fork in the Tigers for sure. They are done. gary Sheffield is griping and Leyland is firing back. The clubhouse is gone and everyone is ready to go home. Last night was a great example. Verlander pitches rotten and no one hits. 7-2 Toronto victory and the Tigers are 8 back and dead. 2 games under .500 for this lineup? Give me a break. Send them all home and bring up the MudHens, at least they would be greatful to be in the big leagues.

Not everyone is that way. Palanco, Maggs, Miggy and Granderson can stay. Maybe Inge, Carlos and Marcus. About everyone else, see you in the Spring. When I was in Lakeland this spring who would have thought this type of season was even possible? Not me! They were tearing the cover off the ball, pitching fairly well and playing good defense. That is all gone now, all gone.

As the leaves begin to change colors we will again wait for the "Voice of the Turtle" to be heard in our land.

See ya in 2009!

What really matters.

Well the TIgers have lost the last 2 games it they are horrible, terrible and miserable! The bullpen is unbelievable and Kyle Farnsworth is not the answer. I just can't hardly watch the games. I can't stand it, just can't stand it.

On another note, continue to pray for Tyson Aschliman and son TJ. Tyson lost his wife to cancer about 10 days ago and it is hard for him. He has a new blogspot. www.tysonaschliman.blogspot.com

Please lift him up in prayer.

August 1st - Where is Summer Going?

Well it is Aug 1 and summer is in mid stream, but going fast. Kind of like the Tigers. Pudge gets traded for Kyle Farnsworth and the TIgers give away games in Cleveland. The Tigers play the Rays and the White Sox the next 2 series and that could tell the season one way or the other. Pretenders or contenders. Time will tell.

A good friend and co-worker, Tyson Aschliman lost his wife Leslie to Cancer this past weekend and it has been tough to think about anything else. Please continue to pray for Tyson and his son TJ as they ajust to life without mom. She will live in their hearts forever and she is no longer suffering. Last night I got to spend some time with Tyson and TJ at a company outing that had been postponed but Tyson wanted to do, so we did it. It was a great time to get to chat and say how sorry we are for the loss. It was also fun to play catch with TJ. He loves baseball and the Cubs. He and his cousins were having fun in the yard and that was the best part of the evening just playing catch. My heart goes out to them.

Well on the Rays and the Pale Sox...Tigers must win 4 of the 6 to be in conention.

We are BACK!

Wow, what a great week. Biking in WI and MN and passing through IN and IL...

Great weather, cool and sunny. Can't ask for better than sunny and 70-75 most days. Beautiful area along Lake Superior and up to International Falls. If you are in INT FALLS make sure to eat at the Chocolate Moose Restaurant on S 53. Food was great and the desserts were unbelievable.

The Tigers are still 6 1/2 games back headed to KC and they have not beaten the Royals all year! It must change now or they are done. They need to get hot and stay hot and get rid of Sheffield. The time has come. Anyway it is good to be home and back to work....well kind of.

Please pray for Leslie and Tyson Aschliman as Leslie continues to battle cancer.

WHY!!!!!!!!

Why pitch to Justin Morneau? Bottom of the 11th and 2 outs and you let Morneau hit a HR? That is crazy. Throw 4 balls and tell him to take his base. He was 4 for 4 on the day and you let him hit? Are you crazy. Jones blows another save, an unearned run ties the game. Runners on 1st and 2nd 1 out and the Tigers can't get the run in. Holy Smoke. 7 games back just before the All-Star game. The TIgers need to get on a roll here soon.

On another note, Tiger Stadium is coming down. Wow, I stopped by there on Wednesday when in Detroit on business and it was sad, real sad to see a huge hole in the Left Centerfield wall. I hope that they do save a small part of the stadium and the field for the future. I still think the city could have turned the place into a money maker if they would have wanted to. Concerts, minor league baseball, a mueseum....something to preserve that piece of history. DO you think they will tear down Wrigley Field? I hope not. Fenway Park?? Yankee Stadium...I hope so...I hate the Yankees!

Tigers, Tigers

Well the Tigers split over the weekend in Seattle. THey needed a sweep. They lost ground to the White Sox. They are now 7 games back a week before the break and at the .500 mark. Maggs on the DL has really hurt the Tigers. The bats have went silent. Tomorrow is another night with the no baseball. Hmmm....take the wife out for dinner and if she thinks the Tigers are playing I get brownie points. Please don't tell!

Well, Pettisville beat Archbold yesterday to win the Fulton County Acme Tournament! Awesome! Archbold is a lot like the Yankees! Everyone hates them! Everyone wants them to lose! The game was great as P-ville turned a triple play in the 6th Innings against the stinkin Bluestreaks!

Monday, June 30, 2008

What a Weekend!

Well the Tigers are at the exact mid point of the season and are above the .500 mark. Hard to believe because 3 weeks ago the Tigers were 12 games under .500 and 11 games back of the White Sox. They are now only 5 games back of the Sox with a big 3 games in MN tonight against the Twins. The Tribe visits the White Sox. For one of the few times in my life I will say this!!! GO TRIBE!!! Wow, that was a weird feeling!

Saturday Todd Jones blew his first save and it was like OH KNOW!!! Not tonight. But in the bottom of the 9th Polanco leads off with a hit, Raburn walks and Miguel Cabrera launches a ball into the gap to score Polanco and Raburn to win the game! Wow, what a relief, especially for Jones I am guessing.

Had a great weekend outside of baseball too. Went to the NTA....National Threshers Association at the Wauseon fairgrounds. I always enjoy the lumber sawing and the steam tractors. But it always makes me want to get my dad's 620 John Deere running! Or buy a tractor like my grandpa's John Deere Model 50.

Motorcycling was also a part of the weekend. Rode Saturday night for a few hours and Sunday to Church and to see Jacob! Jake is 2 months old and is a blast to be around. Grandparenting is such fun! Getting ready to take some time off work and ride the bike and also to celebraate the 4th of July. Holiday weekend coming with the All-Star break around the corner.

GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!

Another Win!

Wow, another exciting victory for the surging Tigers! 2 walks and 2 RBI for Clete Thomas. Clete is one of my favorite new players because he loves to get dirty. Sheff comes through again in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game 2-2 to send the game into extra innings...awesome

Well the weekend is here and Rose and I will be doing some bike riding, (motorcycle) take in the Threshers Convention at the Fulton County Fairgrounds, and just relaxing I hope. 3 games with the Rockies, sounds like a sweep for the Tigs, this weekend. I am sure fun will be had for all.

Remember to pray for my friends Leslie and Tyson Aschliman and their son TJ. Leslie has cancer and we are praying for God to intervene in a mighty way. Our God is "Mighty to Save"!

BIG WIN

Well, maybe Gary Sheffield is not done as I had predicted. 4 hits, walk off single! Wow a huge win after a 2 hour rain delay. The Tigers are now only 5 games back and need to win the series with St Louis this afternoon. Should be a great game. Weather does not look too promising as it will be hot and steamy and possible rain showers.

My friend Dan Bumpus with WTOL out of Toledo is all over the Tigers right now. Got an email this morning stating that Sheff is back. Let's hope so. A healthy Sheff would be huge for the Tigers in this drive to the top. Here is hoping for a series victory this afternoon....(I need to play hooky from work!)

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

St Louis in Town

Well another rematch of the 2006 World Series. Should be interesting. What will be interesting is what the Tigers will do with Sheffield. His rehab is over and he only hit a buck and some change for Lakeland. How can you take anyone out of the current lineup and insert Shef? Sorry, they have played alot better without him. Clete Thomas or Shef? Clete! Marcus of Shef? Are you kidding me! MARCUS! The first game Shef plays and Marcus sits means that Jimmy should be gone! I think even he knows better than that....I hope.

5 Games back and 3 games under .500. Seems almost impossible just a couple shorts weeks ago. Great pitching, timely hitting has made the difference! The Tigers must continue to win and put the pressure on the White Sox and the Twins. How about those Twins? They just keep contending year after year. Even when they shouldn't. What could Gardenhire do with a club like the Tigers? Who knows if it would make a difference.

Game time is 7:05 with the Gambler on the mound. GO TIGERS!!!!!

Wait for Saturday

Wow, Friday already! Home Group tonight and tomorrow we ride! Getting on the Goldwing and cruiaing all day Saturday. I am guessing we are headed to Das Essen Haus to eat way too much and enjoy a trip through OH, MI, and IN. The weather is supposed to be okay. upper 70's and a slight chance of rain. Pack the Frogg Toggs! Man, this is the first weekend that Saturday has not been planned out before the day began! Holy Smoke, isn't life supposed to slow down a bit? Last night was was doing some of the "Honey Do List" till about 10 PM and then installing it this morning at 6:30 AM before work after the drying process! YES DEAR!

Heard from Johnny and Christine from Alabama and they are coming this way in a week and a half or so to stop and see us. Can't wait for them to get here. Rose is really excited to get to see them. Us guys? Hey we think is great too, but not like the ladies! HA These are friends that we met on our way to Colorado on the bike a few years ago. We have stayed in touch over the years and get together from time to time. Good people from Red Bay, AL. Red Bay is the home of Sunshine Pet Food and such. They also have a couple of real good BBQ restaurants!

Enduring the day till it is time to go home.

Where to Begin

The Tigers will open a 3 game series with the Padres tomorrow night in San Diego. The Tigers have cut the White Sox lead from 11 to 6 1/2 games in about a week or so. They seem to be on a roll and headed in the right direction. Time will tell. For now I am back on the Bandwagon. Rose thinks I am nuts, but hey what can I say, GO TIGERS!

I was in Detroit last week to see the Tigs and saw Miggy hit a HR to win the game in the bottom of the 9th 2-1. Great game. 2 Hours and 10 minutes of beautiful baseball. It has been hard on the sleep this week with the Tigers on the left coast. They should have swept the Giants, but we will take 2 out of 3. Stinkin' Fernando Rodney! Polanco is on fire and the offense seems to be coming around for good. Where would the Tigers be without Garragala? Even farther behind.

Zumaya is back tomorrow night and the Tigers have sent down Clevelan and activated Clete Thomas from the DL. Went to see the Mud Hens play Monday and saw Clete playing. 2 run HR and a 2 run double as well as another single and stolen base. By the end of the night the uniform was filthy. You know you had a great game when you are that dirty.

What can you say about Marcus Thames? He is one of my favorites because of his attitude, his faith and his ability to come through when called upon. I hope he gets to play long term and show what he can do given 500 at bats.

Well, the day is done and supper is on the stove. What to do tonight? No Baseball.....

get on the Goldwing and ride.
